Amazon has announced that Arlington Community High School will relocate to a permanent facility at HQ2's Metropolitan Park in 2026. This marks the school's first dedicated location after years without one, according to a company press release.

Arlington Community High School (ACHS) offers flexible education opportunities for students facing unique challenges in balancing academics, work, and family. According to Arlington Public Schools, ACHS serves over 300 students annually, many of whom are immigrants, adult learners, or individuals requiring nontraditional learning pathways to graduate. Having a permanent facility at HQ2 is expected to help ACHS expand programming, provide stability, and foster stronger connections with local employers.

Amazon has made significant community investments since selecting Arlington as the site for HQ2. The Washington Post reports that Amazon pledged more than $2.5 billion to develop HQ2 and has already contributed over $239 million to nonprofits, schools, and affordable housing initiatives in the region. These contributions underscore Amazon’s strategy of linking corporate expansion with long-term community development.

Corporate support for schools is increasingly seen as a driver of both educational equity and local economic growth. The Brookings Institution states that partnerships between companies and schools can strengthen talent pipelines, improve student outcomes, and create upward mobility for underserved populations. By hosting ACHS at HQ2, Amazon is reinforcing this model of public-private collaboration while creating opportunities for students to learn near one of the world’s largest employers.

Amazon.com, Inc., listed on NASDAQ as AMZN, is one of the world’s largest technology companies and a leading employer in Northern Virginia through its HQ2 campus. CNBC reports that Amazon employed more than 1.5 million people globally in 2023 and generated $574.8 billion in net sales, highlighting its global scale and economic influence. With AWS as its dominant cloud business and HQ2 serving as a hub for corporate operations, Amazon continues to integrate business growth with community-focused initiatives.
