Nisha Biswal, accompanied by Ambassador Kathy Stephens, addressed the press outside the Ministry of External Affairs. Biswal emphasized the United States' commitment to strengthening its relationship with India. "The United States is very committed to the U.S.-India relationship," she stated.
Biswal noted that their visit aimed to engage in meetings and consultations with the Indian government. She expressed enthusiasm about future collaborations, saying, "United States is very excited about the opportunity ahead and the road ahead because we see the resounding mandate with which this government has come in, with which Prime Minister Modi has come in, and the hopes and aspirations of the Indian people."
In response to a question regarding Prime Minister Modi's visit to Washington, Biswal mentioned ongoing discussions between both governments. "I think these are conversations that are being worked out between our two governments," she said. The invitation from President Obama was highlighted as a significant step toward furthering diplomatic relations: "The president in his first conversation with the Prime Minister invited him and welcomed him to Washington."
This engagement marks an effort by both nations to understand each other's priorities and work collaboratively towards common goals.
