A two-day festival is scheduled to take place in Bratislava from November 16-17, with events occurring at Freedom Square and other locations throughout the city. According to a notice for U.S. citizens, the festival will run daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. In addition, demonstrations are planned for Monday, November 17, beginning at 4:30 PM at Freedom Square.
The U.S. Embassy in Slovakia has advised that times and locations may change and encourages individuals to check local listings for updates. The embassy also notes the possibility of traffic disruptions, changes in public transportation schedules, and an increased police presence during these events. Counterprotests may also occur.
The embassy issued several recommendations for those in Bratislava during this period: "Avoid demonstrations, if possible; Be cautious of your surroundings and practice situational awareness at all times; Monitor local media for updates; Stay aware of spontaneous counter-protests; If altercations or violence occurs, remove yourself and any family/group members from the area immediately to a safe location (police officer, known public area, etc.); Set a predetermined time and location to meet with friends and family should you become separated."
