Lynda C. Blanchard served as the U.S. Ambassador to Slovenia from 2019 to 2021, where she contributed to strengthening relations between the two countries. During her time in this role, the United States and Slovenia signed agreements on 5G technology and civil nuclear cooperation.
Before her diplomatic appointment, Blanchard was vice-president for business affairs at Ascent Residential, LLC. In this position, she managed operations for more than 25 properties across nine states. She is also known as the co-founder of the 100X Development Foundation, which focuses on addressing poverty and supporting children through education and development programs in several countries across Africa, Asia, and South America.
Blanchard holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science from Auburn University. She has participated in nonprofit work by serving on boards such as Agape of Central Alabama and Montgomery Area Nontraditional Equestrians, an organization that provides therapeutic horseback riding for people with disabilities.
Her humanitarian activities have received recognition from various organizations. These include the Distinguished International Humanitarian Award from the National Council of Women and acknowledgment from the British Speaker of the House of Commons for efforts against human trafficking in Moldova.
Blanchard is a mother of eight children and has adopted internationally. She continues to be involved in initiatives aimed at supporting children and families around the world.
