Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Washington, D.C., to begin the seventh U.S.-Qatar Strategic Dialogue. According to Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott, both officials reaffirmed the strategic partnership between the United States and Qatar. They discussed ways to expand cooperation on economic and security issues.
Secretary Rubio thanked Qatar for its support of American objectives in regions including the Middle East, Africa, and the Western Hemisphere. He also emphasized that both countries are committed to working closely together on shared goals.
