Miss America Nina Davuluri to hold video chat with Indian youth on July 25

Miss America, Nina Davuluri, is set to engage with young people in India through a video chat scheduled for July 25th at 5:30 p.m. Davuluri, who holds the title of Miss America 2014, is recognized as a social entrepreneur, science professional, and dancer. She made history as the first Indian-American to win the Miss America crown in September 2013, emerging victorious from a pool of over 13,000 contestants.

During the session, Davuluri will discuss topics related to diversity in the United States and emphasize the significance of education in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The event can be accessed online at http://conx.state.gov/live-event/india/.

The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Masum Momaya, a curator from the Smithsonian Institution. Dr. Momaya recently curated an exhibit highlighting contributions made by Indians and Indian-Americans to U.S. history.
