U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, held a meeting with Guyana's President, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali. The discussion focused on Guyana's priorities as a member of the United Nations Security Council, with an emphasis on addressing food insecurity.

Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield expressed gratitude towards President Ali for his dedication to peace and security in the Caribbean region. She reiterated the United States' support for Guyana’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The meeting also covered Guyana's role as chair of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and its efforts in coordinating a unified response to the crisis in Haiti. Both leaders acknowledged the necessity of deploying a Multinational Security Support mission to Haiti.

In addition, they touched upon Guyana’s contributions to energy security and sustainable development globally. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield confirmed that the United States remains committed to partnering with Guyana in these areas.
