The California Table Grape Commission, Pear Bureau Northwest, and Washington Apple Commission are collaborating with Metro and Foodhall grocery chains to host a U.S. Fresh Fruit Festival in India. This event spans 16 stores across six cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Zirakpur, and Pune. The festival features special displays of U.S. fresh fruits along with sampling and cooking demonstrations.

Senior Agricultural Attaché Mr. Adam Branson from the U.S. Consulate General attended the event at Palladium Mall Foodhall in Mumbai. Joining him were Mr. Sumit Saran from Future Retail Ltd., and Mr. Keith Sunderlal of The SCS Group. Nutritionist Naini Setalvad led an interactive cooking demonstration and health talk session during the event.

U.S. Consul General in Mumbai, Mr. Tom Vajda commented on the festival: “This festival is a wonderful opportunity for Indian consumers to taste and experience a wide range of U.S. fresh fruits.” He emphasized India's importance as a growing market and expressed satisfaction with their partnership with Foodhall.

Mr. Saran expressed his delight in associating with U.S. Fresh Fruits for the festival at Foodhall stores: “Fruits like grapes from California, American pears, and Washington apples are now part of the regular basket of fruits that Foodhall offers.”

Mr. Sunderlal noted India's potential as a market for imported U.S. fruits: “We hope to create a market which becomes a repository of culinary knowledge and understanding.”

The promotion runs at Metro and Foodhall stores until January 5, 2015.
