Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce for Global Markets, Arun Kumar, and Director-Americas Mugdha Sinha from the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry co-chaired a roundtable discussion in Mumbai. The event was part of the U.S.-India Commercial Dialogue on November 14, 2014, held alongside CORCON 2014.
The roundtable focused on sharing best practices in corrosion prevention technologies with representatives from both Indian and U.S. private sectors. This meeting fulfilled a commitment made during a summit between President Obama and Prime Minister Modi in September in Washington, D.C., aimed at enhancing business ties between the two nations.
Industry experts from the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE International) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry led discussions on protecting infrastructure projects from corrosion. The dialogue provided know-how solutions to extend the lifespan of civil structures, aligning with India's priority on infrastructure development.
Additionally, NACE International committed to offering training and skills development in India's corrosion sector.
The U.S.-India Commercial Dialogue plays an important role in bilateral commercial relations. Both countries are interested in focusing this dialogue on new areas to strengthen their partnership further, ensuring continued growth and diversification of trade relationships.
