The United States has announced its participation as a partner country in the 2015 Vibrant Gujarat Global Investor Summit. This invitation came from Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, marking the first time the U.S. will participate in this capacity. The summit is scheduled to take place in January 2015 in Gujarat.
This development follows Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to the United States, during which President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Modi pledged to facilitate increased trade between their countries. They acknowledged the significant role that U.S. and Indian businesses play in promoting sustainable, inclusive, and job-led growth.
U.S. Consul General in Mumbai Tom Vajda commented on this upcoming partnership: “Developing greater trade and investment ties is a top priority for our two countries. U.S. commercial links with Gujarat run deep, as reflected by the number of American firms with operations in the state and the presence of a U.S. commercial office in Ahmedabad since 1997." He added, "We are excited to open a new chapter in the relationship by joining the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investor Summit.”
The United States aims to use its role as a partner country at Vibrant Gujarat to enhance business and investment connections.
