Chargé d’Affaires Ambassador Kathleen Stephens expressed condolences on behalf of the American people to those affected by Cyclone Hudhud in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. The cyclone has resulted in significant loss, impacting numerous families.

In response, Ambassador Stephens announced that the United States will contribute $100,000 to Plan India via the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). This funding aims to support relief efforts for those impacted by the disaster.

“The United States is committed to working with our partners to help those affected by the cyclone,” stated CDA Ambassador Stephens.

Plan India plans to utilize these funds for emergency relief efforts. This includes providing temporary shelter and non-food supplies to families in remote villages that have been severely hit by the cyclone.

USAID is collaborating with the Government of India, private sector entities, and international organizations. Their joint efforts focus on enhancing disaster resilience through increased investment in disaster risk reduction activities.
