Chargé d’Affaires Ambassador Kathleen Stephens has conveyed condolences from the American people to those in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha affected by Cyclone Hudhud. The cyclone has resulted in significant losses, with many families mourning the loss of loved ones.
In a coordinated effort with central and state authorities, Ambassador Stephens announced that the United States will contribute $100,000 to Plan India through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). This funding aims to support relief efforts for those impacted by the disaster.
“The United States is committed to working with our partners to help those affected by the cyclone,” stated CDA Ambassador Stephens.
Plan India will utilize these funds to deliver emergency relief, which includes temporary shelter and non-food supplies, targeting thousands of families residing in remote villages that were severely hit by the cyclone.
USAID is collaborating with various entities including the Government of India, private sector players, and international organizations. Their joint efforts focus on promoting disaster resilience through enhanced investment in disaster risk reduction activities.
