Chargé d’Affaires Ambassador Kathleen Stephens expressed her condolences to the people of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha affected by Cyclone Hudhud. The cyclone has resulted in significant loss, impacting numerous families.
Ambassador Stephens announced that the United States will contribute $100,000 to Plan India via the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to aid those impacted by the cyclone. This assistance will be coordinated with central and state authorities.
“The United States is committed to working with our partners to help those affected by the cyclone,” stated CDA Ambassador Stephens.
Plan India is set to utilize these funds for emergency relief efforts, including providing temporary shelter and non-food supplies to families in remote villages hit hard by the disaster.
USAID is collaborating with the Government of India, private sector entities, and international organizations on disaster preparedness and response initiatives. These efforts aim at enhancing disaster resilience through increased investment in risk reduction activities.
