Lawrence Petroni, Deputy Chief of Mission | U.S. Embassy in Ecuador

The U.S. Mission in Ecuador, in partnership with the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM), has announced an opportunity for non-governmental organizations to submit proposals for the Julia Taft Refugee Fund 2024. This fund aims to address immediate, low-cost needs in refugee protection and assistance that are not covered by larger multilateral programs.

Organizations interested in applying must submit their proposals by March 4, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. Quito time. Proposals should be sent to QuitoPRMGrants@state.gov with the subject line: "Proposal for the Julia Taft Refugee Fund 2024 – [insert the name of the organization]."

For fiscal year 2024, multiple grants of up to $25,000 each may be awarded by the U.S. Embassy, contingent on funding availability.

Applicants are encouraged to focus on specific areas within their proposals this year. All submissions must be written in English and include several key components:

1. A proposal describing the program, expected benefits to beneficiaries, and details of the implementing entity.

2. A detailed project timeline or calendar.

3. A comprehensive budget outlined in USD.

4. Proof of registration in SAMS.gov along with a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) number before grant disbursement.

5. The organization's code of conduct that aligns with Inter-agency Standing Committee (IASC) Principles and includes plans for protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA).

A selection committee at the U.S. Embassy in Quito will review all applications based on these criteria.
