The World Trade Organization (WTO) Secretariat will actively support trade-focused events at the upcoming COP29 conference in Baku. The Director-General is scheduled to participate in the World Leaders Climate Action Summit on November 12-13, along with several high-level events at the COP29 Trade and Investment House and other venues. During the conference, the Secretariat, along with its partners, plans to launch several publications.

Throughout COP29, activities will take place at the Trade and Investment House pavilions. These are hosted by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Economy in collaboration with the WTO, International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), International Trade Centre (ITC), and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Like COP28 in UAE, these pavilions will serve as a space for engaging discussions on trade, investment, climate action, and showcasing innovative solutions.

A dedicated Climate Finance, Investment and Trade Day is set for November 14. This event aims to discuss how trade and investment can enhance climate finance flows and aid developing countries in a "just transition." Participants will explore how trade policies can contribute to climate goals and sustainable development. The Azerbaijan COP Presidency will also highlight its initiatives during this time. Special high-level events will focus on topics such as sustainable stock exchanges, decarbonizing steel and hydrogen sectors, and integrating small and medium-sized enterprises from developing economies into low-carbon value chains.

The WTO Secretariat has provided a portal for more information about their involvement at COP29.
