Türkiye has informed the World Trade Organization's Committee on Safeguards of its initiation of a safeguard investigation into ethyl acetate, starting from April 6, 2024. The notification to the WTO was made on April 8, 2024.
In its communication, Türkiye stated that interested parties can access and download the investigation questionnaires from the specified investigation page. "The interested parties are required to fill in the questionnaires within 30 (thirty) days from the date of publication of the Communiqué and forward it to the General Directorate," according to Türkiye's notification. Additionally, technical assistance is available for those filling out these forms.
Foreign companies and institutions wishing to participate as interested parties should send their completed questionnaires and official views via email to korunma@ticaret.gov.tr. Correspondence related to this investigation should be directed to the Ministry of Trade's Directorate General for Imports at their Ankara address.
A safeguard investigation aims to assess whether increased imports are causing or threatening serious harm to a domestic industry. During this process, importers, exporters, and other stakeholders may submit evidence and opinions or respond to others' submissions. If it is determined that increased imports cause or threaten serious injury, a WTO member may temporarily restrict imports as a safeguard measure.
