The World Trade Organization (WTO) has launched a new Global Services Trade Data Hub, providing access to four distinct datasets. These datasets include information on digitally delivered services, trade in services by mode of supply, trade in commercial services, and the WTO-OECD Balanced Trade in Services dataset.
Users can utilize the hub to create and download individual charts and tables or perform bulk downloads of data series tailored to their needs. The dataset on digitally delivered services trade offers WTO estimates on services traded through computer networks such as the Internet, apps, emails, voice and video calls, and digital intermediation platforms. This dataset covers over 200 economies and regions across eight sub-sectors for the period from 2005 to 2023.
The Trade in Services by Mode of Supply (TISMOS) dataset provides estimates of services trade through the four modes of supply identified in the WTO's General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS). It includes data for over 200 economies and regions from 2005 to 2022 across 55 sectors. The dataset offers insights into how services trade has evolved over time, including the effects of digitalization and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Additionally, the Trade in Commercial Services dataset contains initial estimates on commercial services trade up until 2023 for approximately 150 economies and regions. This is based on quarterly annualized statistics across eight broad service sectors. The final estimates for more than 50 sectors are expected to be released in July 2024.
Developed with the OECD, the Balanced Trade in Services (BaTiS) dataset presents a balanced matrix of international trade in services for over 200 reporting economies and their partners by sector from 2005 to 2021. It is noted as being the only source offering comprehensive bilateral data on trade in services. Updates and expansions are planned for this dataset throughout 2024.
Enhancements with new features and content are anticipated for the Global Services Trade Data Hub, which will also undergo regular updates.
