Binance Charity announced it will airdrop up to $1 million in Binance Coin (BNB) to registered Binance users identified as living in areas in Northern Vietnam that were devastated by Typhoon Yagi.

According to an article on Binance’s blog, the company will identify impacted users based on their proof-of-address (POA) information. They must reside in one of 25 cities in Northern Vietnam that have suffered the most significant impact. Users who have submitted the POA before September 10, 2024, will receive $50 worth of BNB directly to their Binance accounts.

The article further states that users who don't complete the POA by the deadline will receive an airdrop of $20 worth of BNB if they have registered before September 10, 2024, and complete the POA from September 10, 2024, to September 30, 2024 (both dates inclusive).

The initial round of donations hit accounts on September 16, 2024.

"We’d like to send our sincere condolences to those who are impacted by the devastating typhoon Yagi in Vietnam. We hope that our efforts can bring some relief to those affected. We stand in solidarity with the community members and hope the community can recover from this disaster soon," Binance CEO Richard Teng said in the article.

According to Reuters, Typhoon Yagi killed at least 281 people and left 67 missing in Vietnam. More than 469,500 acres were flooded.
