Roku Inc. recently came in No. 1 with its streaming platform in Mexico, according to the Hypothesis Group. The Hypothesis Group took its survey in October of this year, working with 2,534 respondents. Overall, Roku had the top hours streamed in all of Mexico.
Arthur van Rest, vice president of International at Roku, said in a press release, “We are proud to be the No. 1 TV streaming platform in Mexico, and that is thanks to the consumers who have enjoyed our streaming players over the past six years, our Roku TV partners that chose to build TVs using Roku’s operating system, our retail partners for working with Roku to showcase our products to consumers, and our content partners that have worked with Roku to bring their entertainment to our users.”
One reason for Roku’s sudden success may be its partnerships; the brand is collaborating on a bundle with several TV manufacturers including Hisense, InFocus, JVC, Philips, Sharp, TCL, Walmart’s ATVIO and Sanyo Roku TV, which recently launched in Mexico. The bundle features a free Roku subscription with TV purchase, and the deal includes TVs ranging in sizes from 32 to 75 inches.
According to Business Wire, advertising for the upcoming 4K Roku stick also may have played a part.
“Earlier this year, Roku unveiled the all-new Roku® Streaming Stick 4K, offering powerful 4K streaming in a portable form factor," the press release said. "The Roku Streaming Stick 4K is easy to use, faster and more powerful than ever. It boots up to 30% faster — enabling smooth streaming in spectacular 4K, Dolby Vision® and HDR10+ picture and features a redesigned long-range Wi-Fi® receiver."
Along with enhanced sound, power and visuals, the new Streaming Stick 4K also features voice commands and Amazon Alexa compatibility. Its sleek design is easily concealed behind a TV with easy setup.
