Uber has announced new measures aimed at enhancing the protection of drivers' and couriers' time, tips, and ratings. These include a Delayed Ride Guarantee, a Tip Guarantee for couriers, and expanded rating and deactivation safeguards.

According to Uber's official newsroom post titled "Only on Uber 2025," these updates are part of the "Fairer: Transparency, Protections and Tips" category. The company emphasizes its mission that "every trip, every delivery, and every interaction on Uber should feel fair." The announcement notes that these changes were shaped by feedback from the Uber Crew program, which involved input from over 100 team members and drivers worldwide. TechCrunch reports that this effort is part of a broader initiative to ensure drivers and couriers have clearer expectations, stronger protections, and more transparent communication about their earnings and account standing.

In a blog post titled "Introducing Delayed Ride Guarantee" published on October 16, 2025, Uber confirmed that if a driver's trip takes more than five minutes longer than estimated after pickup, their fare will automatically increase. The policy aims to compensate drivers fairly when unforeseen issues such as traffic or detours extend trip times. This guarantee applies to all standard rides except for Hourly, Intercity, and Connect trips and is not currently available in New York City, Oregon, or Washington state due to local transportation regulations.

In its October 14, 2025 announcement titled "Coming soon: Tip Guarantee for couriers," Uber introduced a feature ensuring couriers receive the exact amount displayed—including the customer's tip—even if the tip is later reduced. This change addresses long-standing courier concerns about unpredictable tip adjustments after delivery completion. According to Uber's blog, this feature will begin rolling out across major U.S. delivery markets in November to provide a more stable income stream for delivery partners.

Uber Technologies Inc., headquartered in San Francisco, California, operates globally across ride-hailing, food delivery, and freight logistics in over 70 countries. According to its official website, Uber's mission is "to make this the best platform for flexible work" by developing tools and protections that improve fairness, safety, and transparency. The company continues investing in new technologies and policies to support millions of drivers and couriers who power its platform worldwide.
