Amazon announced in a press release that Amazon Web Services (AWS) has selected 40 global startups for its 2025 Generative AI Accelerator. The program will provide up to $1 million in AWS credits, mentorship, and access to its artificial intelligence technology.
According to AWS, the third cohort of its Generative AI Accelerator spans eight weeks. The program will launch on October 13, 2025, at Amazon HQ1 in Seattle and conclude in December during AWS re:Invent 2025 in Las Vegas. The selected startups represent regions including Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ), Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Latin America (LATAM), and North America. Emphasis is placed on foundation models, infrastructure, AI tooling, and sector applications such as finance, life sciences, and robotics. Participants will receive business and technical mentorship as well as access to AWS’s generative AI tech stack to help them scale.
The cohort includes 40 companies eligible for up to $1 million in AWS credits as part of an eight-week curriculum that pairs founders with business and technical mentors. AWS states participants gain curated support to accelerate impact, including stack optimization and go-to-market guidance. The program culminates in showcases to investors and customers. These specifics align with AWS’s said aim of removing barriers and speeding practical deployments.
The accelerator operates against a rapidly expanding cloud backdrop where AWS holds a leading share. Industry tracking shows AWS at roughly 30% of global cloud infrastructure spending in the second quarter of 2025, ahead of Microsoft at 20% and Google at 13%. This scale—driven by enterprise AI demand—provides startups with broad market reach, services depth, and partner access as they commercialize.
