U.S. personnel from the East Africa Response Force (EARF), a unit under U.S. Africa Command’s Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA), have been deployed to the U.S. Embassy in Uganda for a scheduled Emergency Deployment Readiness Exercise (EDRE). The exercise is being conducted in coordination with Ugandan authorities.
The training aims to practice procedures necessary for real-world emergency assistance and disaster response situations. According to officials, these exercises are held regularly in various African countries with approval from host governments and are focused solely on readiness and emergency response.
A statement from the organizers noted, "The United States continues to work with Uganda in advancing shared goals of peace and stability in the region."
