Planned demonstrations are expected to take place near the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and the Kuala Lumpur City Center from October 24 to 26, 2025. The U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has issued an alert to U.S. citizens regarding these events, which are organized in protest of U.S. foreign policy.
According to the embassy, demonstrations will begin on Friday, October 24 at 2:00 p.m. near the embassy. On Saturday, October 25, another protest will start at 7:30 p.m., moving from the National Zoo to the embassy. On Sunday, October 26, demonstrations are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. near the Kuala Lumpur City Center at the Ampang Park train station.
The embassy stated, "There is no indication at this time that these demonstrations will turn violent, but as with any large gathering, tensions can escalate unexpectedly and with little warning. U.S. citizens should exercise caution and avoid protest areas. Please remember that it is illegal for non-Malaysians to participate in demonstrations in Malaysia."
U.S. citizens are encouraged by the embassy to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive security alerts and updates.
The embassy provided the following guidance: "Avoid demonstrations and crowds. Monitor local media for updates. Be aware of your surroundings."
