Representatives from the Social Security Administration’s Federal Benefits Unit in Athens, Greece, will be available for appointments in Cyprus from September 24 to 26. The visit is intended to provide information and assistance to current and future Social Security recipients living in Cyprus.
The representatives will hold sessions at two locations. On September 24, they will be at CUTing Edge – An American Space at the Cyprus University of Technology in Limassol from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. On September 25 and 26, they will be available at the U.S. Embassy Consular Section in Nicosia, with hours on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and on Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
During these appointments, the officials will assist with general Social Security services, including the issuance of initial Social Security numbers for applicants over age twelve, which requires a personal interview. They will also help with identity proofing as per updated SSA guidelines.
According to current procedures, any applicant seeking retirement benefits must have a personal interview. Beneficiaries who already receive benefits and want to change their bank details are also required to attend an interview.
Those wishing to schedule an appointment must email FBU.Athens@ssa.gov with “FBU Services” in the subject line. The email should include full name, date of birth, last four digits of the Social Security number, address, telephone number, and a brief explanation of the request. Appointments are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis until all slots are filled.
