To facilitate the secure return of passports, individuals are required to provide a postage label for registered mail (REK post) through PostNord’s online platform or app. The U.S. Embassy in Sweden has outlined steps to ensure the process is followed correctly and to prevent delays.
Applicants are advised not to purchase postage in person at a PostNord location or use physical or digital stamps, as these methods are not accepted. Instead, the embassy instructs the use of only the PostNord website or app to generate a valid postage label.
The process involves visiting the PostNord Portal, selecting REK postage, and choosing the 250g weight category for each passport renewal. Applicants must enter their own name and address as the recipient. For the sender address, they should use: "US Embassy Attn: ACS, Dag Hammarskjölds väg 31, 115 89 Stockholm."
When collecting registered mail, recipients are required to present valid Swedish identification at the designated delivery location.
After generating the shipping label, applicants can either print it and bring it to their appointment or email it to stkacsinfo@state.gov with the subject line E22.
The embassy’s instructions are designed to streamline passport returns and minimize complications by using traceable mail options.
