The U.S. Mission to Pakistan has issued a security alert for Islamabad, citing current security concerns. The embassy announced that it is temporarily restricting the movement of official personnel as a precautionary measure.

U.S. citizens in Islamabad are being advised to remain vigilant while traveling in the city. The embassy's message outlines several recommended actions for those living in or visiting the area: "Avoid areas of large public gatherings. Use caution when traveling in all areas of Islamabad. Review your personal security plans. Monitor local media for updates. Keep a low profile. Carry identification and cooperate with police. Monitor email for further updates regarding consular appointments."

Assistance is available through the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad by phone at +(92)(51) 201-4000, as well as through the State Department’s Consular Affairs lines at 888-407-4747 or 202-501-4444.

The embassy encourages American citizens to review information about Pakistan on the State Department’s country information page and to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for timely security updates and notifications (https://step.state.gov/). Additional resources include following embassy social media channels on Facebook and X, and joining the “U.S. Citizen Consular Info: PAKISTAN” channel for real-time information.
