The Secretary of State of the United States, alongside the Foreign Ministers from Australia, India, and Japan, convened in Washington D.C. on July 1, 2025. This gathering marked the 10th Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. During this event, they highlighted recent activities and collaborations with partners aimed at promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

The ministers introduced several initiatives focused on enhancing maritime security, economic prosperity, critical technology development, and humanitarian aid. A key highlight was the launch of the Quad Critical Minerals Initiative aimed at bolstering economic security by securing diverse supply chains for critical minerals.

In maritime security efforts, the Quad expanded its cooperation to tackle illicit activities like piracy and drug trafficking through initiatives such as the Quad-at-Sea Ship Observer Mission. This mission involves interoperability exercises on a U.S. Coast Guard Cutter that sailed from Palau to Guam.

The group also discussed plans to enhance energy security across the Indo-Pacific by strengthening supply chains and promoting infrastructure projects. The formal launch of the Quad Ports of the Future Partnership is scheduled for October 2025 in Mumbai.

Critical technology discussions included commitments to advancing secure digital infrastructure projects across the Indo-Pacific region. The Quad aims to foster innovation in areas like artificial intelligence and biotechnology while encouraging research collaborations through programs like AI-ENGAGE.

Humanitarian assistance remains a priority with over USD$30 million contributed following an earthquake in Myanmar earlier this year. A workshop on pandemic preparedness was also hosted by India with participation from 15 countries in March 2025.

Overall, these initiatives reflect ongoing efforts by Quad members to address regional challenges collaboratively while fostering resilience and prosperity within the Indo-Pacific region.
