The U.S. Embassy in Madagascar has launched an English Language Teacher Training program aimed at enhancing the quality of instruction across the nation. The initiative, funded by the U.S. Department of State and executed in collaboration with the English Language Teachers Association (ELTA) of Madagascar, will involve over 100 teachers. This two-day training is themed "Empowering Teacher Educators through Innovative Teaching and Leadership" and includes workshops, focus group discussions, and expert presentations.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage with experts from various regions including U.S. English Language Specialists, the Regional English Language Officer, and representatives from ELTA Africa, ELTA Madagascar, and TESOL International Association.

In a keynote address, the U.S. Ambassador to Madagascar emphasized the critical role of English teachers in shaping future generations and highlighted quality education as essential for sustainable growth.

This initiative is part of a broader commitment by the U.S. Embassy to support professional development for English educators in Madagascar. Since 2019, over 3,000 educators have benefited from training programs designed to improve teaching methods and expand resource access.

The event also marks a continuation of efforts following the establishment of ELTA Madagascar in July 2024—a significant milestone resulting from ongoing professional development initiatives supported by the Embassy. The aim is to expand ELTA's membership and strengthen its regional presence through robust programming led by teachers.

The U.S. Embassy continues to collaborate with local educational leaders to promote excellence in English teaching, fostering environments where both educators and students can succeed.
