Senator Tammy Duckworth led a U.S. congressional delegation to Taiwan from May 28 to May 29, 2025. This visit was part of a broader tour of the Indo-Pacific region. During their stay, the delegation engaged in discussions with several key Taiwanese officials, including President Lai Ching-te and Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim.
The delegation also met with National Security Council Secretary-General Joseph Wu, Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung, and Vice Minister of Defense Po Horng-huei. These meetings provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on issues important to the United States and Taiwan. Topics included U.S.-Taiwan relations, regional security, trade and investment, among other mutual interests.
The visit emphasized the United States' commitment to its partnership with Taiwan and reinforced a shared dedication to maintaining a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
