Adrienne Galanek took on the role of Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Georgetown, Guyana, in July 2022. She is a seasoned diplomat with extensive experience in various roles within the U.S. Department of State.
Before her current position, Galanek served as a Faculty Advisor at the U.S. Naval War College and was Deputy Director in the Political Military Affairs Bureau’s Office of State-Defense Integration. Her previous assignments include serving as Deputy Chief of Mission and later Chargé d’Affaires ad interim in Belize. Additionally, she was part of the Foreign Policy Advisor team at U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), collaborating with military and government agencies to tackle security issues in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Galanek's diplomatic career has spanned multiple continents and roles. She directed International Narcotics and Law Enforcement programs in South Sudan, held economic positions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and served as an Economic Officer in Namibia. She also worked on Southern African affairs as Desk Officer for Swaziland and Malawi, with other postings including Oslo, Norway, and Shanghai, China.
She holds a Master’s Degree in National Security Studies from the College of Naval Command and Staff at the U.S. Naval War College, along with bachelor’s degrees from Georgetown University in American Government and History.
