Raymond Greene, Director of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), delivered remarks at the National Taiwan University's Youth National Security Forum. Greene expressed gratitude to Rion Wu, President of NTU’s National Security and Strategy Studies Institution (N3SI), for organizing the event.
Greene emphasized the importance of engagement in security studies and strategic dialogue for both the United States and Taiwan. He highlighted AIT's partnerships with Taiwan's academic institutions as crucial for fostering understanding and innovation.
"Taiwan is not just a place on the map — it is a model for the region and an example of a thriving democracy and a powerhouse of innovation," said Greene. He stressed that AIT's priorities are security, resilience, and connectivity.
Greene recently traveled to the United States with a focus on strengthening economic connectivity between Taiwan and the U.S. He attended the SelectUSA Investment Summit, where he noted that Taiwan's delegation was one of the largest. "The SelectUSA Summit serves as a premier example of international collaboration," he stated.
During his visit, Greene also observed GlobalWafers' announcement to invest an additional $4 billion in U.S. wafer manufacturing. Additionally, he participated in opening a U.S.-Taiwan Autonomous System Cooperation Forum at Xponential, highlighting advancements in drone technology.
Greene concluded by expressing confidence in future efforts to build secure supply chains and strengthen societal resilience through joint initiatives. "Together, we can ensure that the next generation inherits not only the legacy of that success but the promise of even greater achievements to come," he said.
