The U.S. Embassy in Tunisia has announced the opening of applications for the Fulbright Foreign Student Program for the 2026-2027 academic year. This program offers Tunisian graduate students, early-career professionals, and artists the chance to pursue master’s degrees or conduct doctoral research at U.S. institutions.

The Fulbright Program provides full coverage for tuition, fees, books, equipment, travel allowances, a monthly stipend for room and board, and limited health benefits. The application deadline is June 15, 2025.

Eligible candidates must be Tunisian citizens residing in Tunisia during the application process and have little to no prior experience in the United States. They should be fluent in English or willing to attend a Long-Term English program before starting their academic journey. Applicants are also expected to have an interest in American history and society while being prepared to share their knowledge of Tunisian culture.

Master's degree applicants need a strong academic background equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree. PhD candidates must be enrolled in a doctoral program in Tunisia with ongoing dissertation work.

The selection process is open and merit-based, considering leadership potential and adaptability to life in the United States. Interested individuals can apply through instructions available online at: https://www.amideast.org/fulbright-foreign-student-program-for-tunisia.

Since its inception over 75 years ago, the Fulbright Program has enabled diverse individuals worldwide to study, teach, conduct research, exchange ideas, and address international challenges. More than 230 Tunisians have participated since 1970.
