The United States government has donated equipment to Caritas Fiji, reinforcing its partnership with the organization and its commitment to the people of Fiji. This donation is aimed at enhancing emergency response efforts in the region.

U.S. Ambassador to Fiji, Marie C. Damour, emphasized the importance of collaborating with faith-based organizations like Caritas Fiji, which play a crucial role in disaster response within local communities. "The United States and Fiji share the values of faith and community. We are honored to support trusted partners like Caritas Fiji and the Catholic Church, who are helping communities prepare for and recover from natural disasters," stated Ambassador Damour.

She further added that this partnership reflects a strong commitment to the Pacific region, focusing on aiding local communities and fostering long-term collaboration.

The newly donated equipment will enable Caritas Fiji to respond more swiftly and effectively during emergencies such as cyclones or floods—common occurrences affecting many Pacific Island nations.

For several years, the United States has been supporting Caritas Fiji by aiding in storing advance emergency supplies, improving local shelters, and providing clean water to families in need.

Additionally, through the "We RISE" project, efforts have been made by the United States in collaboration with communities in Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa to enhance sanitation facilities in emergency centers and improve disaster preparedness.

The donation includes tools designed to help Caritas Fiji maintain connectivity and organization during crisis situations.
