The United States-Kosovo Educational Exchange Board (USKEB) is calling for Kosovan host institutions to submit project proposals for the Fulbright Specialist Program. This initiative allows host institutions to invite qualified U.S. scholars and professionals to Kosovo for a period of two to six weeks to work on specific projects. The deadline for applications is July 20, 2025, with projects commencing no earlier than October 1, 2025, and concluding by September 30, 2026.
"The Fulbright Specialist Program in Kosovo offers around twelve (12) Fulbright Specialist grants per calendar year," according to USKEB. The program enables U.S. academics and professionals at the faculty or full professional level to share their expertise through projects requested by Kosovan institutions.
Fulbright Specialists are tasked with exchanging knowledge, building capacity, and establishing partnerships that benefit both U.S. and Kosovan participants and institutions. "This Fulbright opportunity offers an on-demand, short-term exchange open to a wide variety of fields that responds directly to the needs of host institutions and host countries."
World Learning will implement the program in FY2025 through its web-based portal for project submission, review, and implementation: https://worldlearning-community.force.com/FSPHost.
Eligible foreign host institutions include academic entities such as universities and research centers; government bodies like ministries; cultural organizations including museums; NGOs; and public health-related facilities. Fields eligible for participation span various disciplines from agriculture to urban planning.
Ineligible hosts include U.S.-based entities or for-profit companies. Specialists cannot engage in personal research but must execute projects conceptualized by approved host institutions without clinical medical research or patient contact.
For interested candidates wishing to join the roster as specialists, they should apply via the online portal provided by World Learning.
Kosovan institutions seeking participation need to apply directly via World Learning's online project portal before the specified deadline. Host institutions can either opt for an open request process where specialists are matched post-approval or a named roster request where a specific candidate is pre-identified.
