The U.S. Embassy in Beirut has announced the Community Engagement and Exchange (CEE) program, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with funding from the U.S. Government and implemented by IREX. This initiative aims to equip visionaries with the skills and resources needed to develop multisector approaches for building healthy and engaged communities across more than 100 countries.
The CEE program spans a year and is designed to empower civil society leaders to utilize networks, relationships, and information for public benefit. It focuses on civic dialogue, participatory governance, women's issues, sustainable development, and youth engagement.
Eligibility for the program extends to Lebanese citizens and long-term Palestinian residents in Lebanon who are aged between 21 and 27 years old. Applicants must be proficient in English and involved in community engagement initiatives in Lebanon, either professionally or as volunteers. The program targets those who envision a career supporting civil society. However, citizens or permanent residents of the United States are not eligible to apply.
Applications for the program must be submitted by May 22, 2025, at 11:59 P.M. EST (May 23 at 06:59 AM Beirut Time). "Click here to know more about the program including eligibility requirements."
The U.S. Government will cover expenses for participants such as roundtrip airfare, accommodation, and health insurance. The selection process is merit-based, encouraging applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply.
