The United States Embassy in Harare has issued a demonstration alert ahead of Anti-Sanctions Day, which will be observed on Saturday, October 25. According to the embassy, demonstrators may gather in the tented area across from the embassy beginning Friday afternoon and could remain through Saturday afternoon.
The embassy has advised individuals to avoid the area around its premises and any other locations where demonstrations are taking place. It also recommends exercising caution if unexpectedly near large gatherings or protests, monitoring local media for updates, and remaining aware of one's surroundings.
For assistance, the embassy provided its contact information and encouraged U.S. citizens to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive alerts and facilitate location in case of emergencies.
