The United States has reiterated its commitment to the stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina during a recent UN Security Council debate. The U.S. representative expressed concerns over recent developments in the region, urging political leaders to de-escalate tensions and engage in dialogue aimed at enhancing stability.
"We have watched recent events in Bosnia and Herzegovina with concern," stated the U.S. representative. "We urge political leaders to de-escalate and avoid actions that could increase instability or violence in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to engage in constructive dialogue that leads to greater stability."
The U.S. also emphasized its opposition to any secessionist or destabilizing rhetoric, affirming support for Bosnia and Herzegovina's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and multi-ethnic character.
Rooted in the Dayton Peace Accords, the contribution of EUFOR’s Operation ALTHEA was acknowledged as essential for maintaining a safe environment within Bosnia and Herzegovina. Additionally, the role of the Office of the High Representative was recognized for its support in implementing civilian aspects of the Dayton Peace Agreement.
"The United States supports Bosnia and Herzegovina as it works to secure the future of all its citizens," concluded the representative, calling on all members of the Council to extend similar support.
