The United States Mission to Yemen has announced the availability of the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program (FLTA) for the academic year 2026-2027. This nine-month program provides an opportunity for English teachers or professionals in similar fields to teach their native language at American colleges and universities. Participants will spend an academic year enhancing their teaching skills, improving their English proficiency, and gaining a better understanding of American society and culture. Additionally, they will assist in foreign language instruction for U.S. students and engage with their host communities through various activities.
Eligibility for the program requires applicants to be citizens of Yemen residing in the country throughout the application process. They must hold the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree with a strong academic record, while a master's degree is often preferred. The program is open to early-career teachers of English or those training to become educators in related fields, with previous teaching experience being an advantage. Applicants should be interested in teaching Arabic and Yemeni culture, fluent in English, adaptable, mature, reliable, and professional.
To apply, candidates must submit an online application by Saturday, May 17, at 11:59 p.m. Yemen time. The program does not accommodate dependents or family members, and U.S. citizens or dual citizens are ineligible to participate.
