President Trump and Secretary Rubio have chosen Ambassador Julie S. Davis to take on the role of Chargé d’Affaires in Kyiv, amid ongoing efforts to secure a peace agreement in the region. The appointment comes at a strategic time as both countries look towards diplomatic resolutions to end the violence.
Ambassador Davis is recognized as a distinguished member of the Senior Foreign Service, currently holding the rank of minister-counselor. Her extensive experience in international diplomacy spans over three decades, during which she has fulfilled essential roles.
At present, Ambassador Davis serves as the United States Ambassador to Cyprus, a position she has held since February 2023. The State Department emphasizes that her appointment in Kyiv does not signify any change in the United States' relationship or strategic partnership with Cyprus. This appointment is viewed as bringing forth the Department’s most capable individuals, as highlighted by Spokesperson Tammy Bruce.
