The U.S. Embassy Lima has announced the opportunity for small grants funding through its FY25 Annual Program Statement. Managed by the Embassy’s Public Diplomacy Section (PDS), applications are being accepted until midnight, May 25, 2025, as per the Lima, Peru timezone. This initiative is seeking project proposals aligned with U.S. priorities aiming at creating a safer and more prosperous community while underscoring U.S. leadership.
Eligible projects must include a U.S. component and can range in funding from $10,000 to $30,000. Interested organizations, except individuals, must obtain a Unique Entity ID (UEI) from sam.gov before applying. Compliance with U.S. Federal anti-discrimination laws is a mandatory requirement, as highlighted by Executive Order 14173.
An initial technical review of submissions will lead to a shortlist, with applicants entering a second round required to provide a detailed budget narrative in English. Projects should ideally start by September 2025, with the awarding process concluding after a three-stage selection process.
The Embassy will provide grants for diverse project categories, including lectures, cultural workshops, and professional exchanges involving U.S. experts. Applications will be evaluated on criteria such as organizational capacity, project goals, sustainability, and budget feasibility.
Opposingly, certain types of projects are not eligible, including charitable activities, partisan political campaigns, or projects solely structured for organizational development. Grant funding is dictated by the Smith-Mundt or Fulbright-Hays acts with an estimated performance period of 2 to 24 months.
Entities eligible to apply include registered non-profit organizations and educational institutions from the U.S. or Peru. The selection process will ensure applications are complete, coherent, and adhere to outlined measures of success.
Feedback will be provided to all applicants, with successful ones receiving further communication on grant award finalization.
The Embassy emphasizes prompt registration procedures and adherence to documentation needs. This includes the requirement for any organization to apply through the exclusive Google Form provided and ensure accurate filing of the mandatory forms SF-424 and SF-424A.
The U.S. Embassy asserts that the availability of funds is a key determining factor for project approval and reserves the right to withdraw offers if necessary. The Embassy further delineates reporting requirements and the necessity for sustainable project plans beyond the grant period.
