The United States Air Force Band of the Pacific recently visited the Philippines, showcasing musical performances as part of a cultural outreach effort. From April 6 to 10, the band performed in various locations, including Manila, Pampanga, and Nueva Ecija.
In Manila, the band collaborated with the Philippine Air Force’s (PAF) Marching Band and String Ensemble at the SM Mall of Asia Sky Amphitheatre on April 6. The event featured popular rock songs such as "Yellow Submarine" and "Sweet Child O’ Mine," alongside Filipino hits like "Sumayaw Sumunod." The band's presence extended to Pampanga for the Cope Thunder exercises.
"We are here to affirm the friendship of our two countries. We want to emphasize—through music—that this friendship is strong and enduring," Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Hansen stated in Filipino.
The band members are part of the Small Kine ensemble, a rock quartet with connections to the Philippines; Master Sergeant Daniel Santos originates from Bulacan, and Senior Airman Brennan Tolman lived in Pangasinan. "Thanks to the U.S. Embassy team, we were able to deliver the Pacific Air Forces’ message of peace, security, and friendship to the people of the Philippines," said Master Sergeant Santos. He highlighted the opportunity to connect through music and service.
In Pampanga, performances were held at the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth and SM City Clark. In Nueva Ecija, the band participated in the 118th Foundation Anniversary celebrations of Central Luzon State University.
The U.S. Air Force Band of the Pacific is stationed at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii and serves across a wide region, including locations like Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand.
