The Social Security Administration (SSA) in Santo Domingo has announced a procedure to address suspended benefits for those who did not receive their February payment. Beneficiaries affected by suspension are required to complete and submit the Foreign Enforcement Questionnaire to reinstate their benefits. Two forms are available based on the recipient's payment method: the SSA-7162 form for those receiving payments in their own name, and the SSA-7161 form for payments received through a representative payee.
To facilitate the reinstatement process, beneficiaries are encouraged to contact SSA Santo Domingo by telephone at 809-368-7011 from Monday to Thursday, 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon, or via email at FBU.Santo.Domingo@ssa.gov, including their contact number. Once the required forms are submitted, benefits are expected to be reinstated within approximately seven business days.
Beneficiaries under 90, receiving their own benefits, and with Social Security Numbers ending in 50 to 99, need not send the Foreign Enforcement Questionnaire immediately. They will receive a mailed form between June and July 2025. Those within this category but registered at a U.S. address can disregard the current notice.
In addition, the SSA provides an update concerning the Social Security Fairness Act, specifically addressing the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO). Those who have previously filed for Social Security benefits and experience offsets should verify their mailing addresses and direct deposit information through their personal my Social Security account, accessible via http://www.ssa.gov/myaccount.
Individuals who have not filed for benefits and are recipients of public pensions can apply online at ssa.gov/apply or schedule an appointment. Further information is accessible via the Regional Federal Benefits Unit page or by contacting them directly at FBU.Santo.Domingo@ssa.gov.
