The United States Embassy in Conakry's Public Diplomacy Section has announced the annual application call for the Fulbright Foreign Student Program for the academic year 2025-2026. This program offers graduate students, young professionals, and artists from other countries the opportunity to study and perform research in the United States. Managed by the Institute of International Education (IIE) and funded by the U.S. Department of State, the program provides support to successful candidates for up to two years.

The program prioritizes applicants for master's programs, although doctoral candidates may also apply. The IIE will assist in matching successful applicants with appropriate U.S. academic programs. Applicants need to submit their applications by May 14, 2025, through the provided online platform.

Eligibility requirements include Guinean citizenship or permanent residency, attainment of a U.S. bachelor’s degree equivalent, and English proficiency. Applicants must meet standardized test score requirements, specifically the TOEFL and GRE/GMAT, where applicable. The GRE is exempt for those in law and commerce, but applicants securing below the fiftieth percentile must retake it. While a TOEFL score of 90 is recommended, a minimum of 80 is acceptable.

Critical traits for competitive candidates encompass demonstrated leadership qualities and strong academic and professional motivation. Candidates must outline clear goals for their U.S. study and post-study contributions to Guinea’s development. Preference goes to applicants with limited U.S. experience and no previous Fulbright grant.

Plagiarism is strictly forbidden, and any instances will lead to disqualification. The program insists on all application parts being original, requiring proper citation where external sources are used, in compliance with APA, MLA, or Chicago styles.

The application process includes essays such as the Study Objective and Personal Statement, both of which must reflect personal insights and goals. All instructions must be adhered to, and applications proofread to avoid errors or plagiarism.

The U.S. Department of State covers the fees for required standardized exams, and applicants will be expected to prepare for these. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews, with encouragement for those not selected to refine their applications for future submissions.

For additional information, potential applicants can reach out to the Public Diplomacy Section at the U.S. Embassy in Conakry.
