A statement from Tammy Bruce, spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, was released regarding China's recent military exercises near Taiwan. Bruce emphasized that these actions by China are seen as exacerbating regional tensions and posing risks to both security and global prosperity.
In her statement, Bruce reiterated, "Once again, China’s aggressive military activities and rhetoric toward Taiwan only serve to exacerbate tensions and put the region’s security and the world’s prosperity at risk." She highlighted the ongoing commitment of the United States to its allies and partners, specifically including Taiwan.
The U.S. stance focuses on the maintenance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. Bruce further underscored that the United States opposes any unilateral changes to the status quo by force or coercion, stating, "The United States supports peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and opposes unilateral changes to the status quo, including through force or coercion."
