For over seventy years, the United States and Jordan have shared a significant partnership centered around trade, travel, and tourism. As part of this partnership, the U.S. Embassy in Amman has facilitated the issuing of over one million visas to Jordanians visiting the United States.
President Trump’s administration is actively enforcing U.S. immigration laws to bolster the country's safety, strength, and prosperity. Consul General Dan Gedacht warns that illegal activities such as unlawful entry, document fraud, working without authorization, or overstaying visas can incur severe penalties, including jail time, deportation, and a permanent ban on U.S. visas.
Gedacht urges individuals with family or friends living illegally in the U.S. to advise them to return home. "If you try to enter the United States illegally, lie, or submit fraudulent documents to get a visa... you will face serious penalties," Gedacht emphasizes.
The Trump administration has intensified border security efforts, leading to a dramatic 94% reduction in illegal crossings in February 2025 compared to the previous year, with a 627% increase in arrests of illegal crossers. "If you try to cross a U.S. border or remain... illegally, you will be caught, detained, and sent back," Gedacht warns.
Visa fraud is a significant concern, and the U.S. maintains one of the world's most secure visa processes. "If you break U.S. visa or immigration laws, you will be punished, and you may never be allowed to enter the United States again," Gedacht states.
The risks of attempting to cross the U.S. border illegally are significant, with criminal groups posing threats to migrants. The U.S. is working with other nations to prevent migrants from reaching the border and to stifle illegal immigration efforts.
President Trump's administration is committed to holding accountable those who assist in illegal immigration, including smugglers and traffickers. "Those who threaten U.S. security by facilitating illegal immigration are not welcome in our country," Gedacht confirms.
Gedacht's message is clear: the risks of illegal immigration outweigh any potential benefits, posing dangers to safety and legal consequences. He urges compliance with the law and advises that the best action for those in the U.S. illegally is to leave before being apprehended. "Make the right choice, follow the law, and do not risk your safety, your family, or your future," he concludes.
