The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka has announced the opening of applications for the 2026-2027 Fulbright Foreign Student Program. This program, funded by the U.S. Department of State and managed by the Institute of International Education (IIE), offers scholarships to promising young professionals seeking to pursue a master's degree in the United States.
The program targets junior faculty members at Bangladeshi higher education institutions, as well as junior to mid-level employees from research organizations, think tanks, and NGOs across various sectors. The embassy encourages applications from individuals across all disciplines, with an emphasis on fields such as American studies, energy, security, migration, business, economics, international relations, public administration, public policy, education, biological and physical sciences, social sciences, and humanities.
Applicants should meet several eligibility criteria: they must hold at least a four-year bachelor's degree with an excellent academic record from a recognized university in Bangladesh; not possess a degree from or be enrolled in any U.S. institution; not have obtained a master's degree from any foreign country (except those with Bangladeshi master's degrees); have a minimum of two years of relevant full-time professional experience; be proficient in English with specific TOEFL or IELTS scores; be Bangladeshi citizens residing in Bangladesh during application; and submit a complete online application following program guidelines.
The application package requires an online form completion along with academic transcripts and certificates from all attended post-secondary institutions. Additionally, three recommendation letters must be uploaded by referees through the designated portal. An academic records information form is also necessary alongside valid TOEFL/IELTS scores and GRE or GMAT scores if available.
