Tropical Cyclone Jude is anticipated to impact Malawi, particularly the Southern Region, with strong winds, heavy rains, and potential flooding. In response to the approaching cyclone, the U.S. Embassy in Lilongwe has advised caution and restricted its personnel from traveling beyond Lilongwe city limits until 8:00 a.m. on March 14, 2025.

The embassy advises private U.S. citizens in Malawi to consult local resources for updates. These include the Malawi Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services and the Department of Disaster Management Affairs. Additionally, citizens are encouraged to monitor both national and international media outlets for further information.

Preparations suggested by the embassy include stocking up on essential supplies such as food, water, fuel, flashlights, batteries, candles, and other basic goods. During the storm's passage, individuals should avoid travel to affected areas and seek secure shelter while maintaining open lines of communication for emergencies.

Post-storm guidelines recommend staying sheltered until authorities provide an all-clear signal. It is also advised to steer clear of fallen power lines and damaged structures while draining stagnant water to mitigate mosquito breeding.
