The U.S. Embassy in Beirut has announced the opening of the Fulbright Foreign Student Program competition for the academic year 2026-2027. This program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State through the embassy, offers up to two years of graduate study in the United States starting in August 2026.

The grant covers roundtrip airfare between Lebanon and the United States, university tuition, books, health insurance, and lodging. However, expenses for dependents such as spouses and children are not included.

Applicants can visit https://apply.iie.org/ffsp2026/ to complete their online applications and access detailed eligibility requirements and application instructions. Preference will be given to those who have not previously studied in the United States. Participants must return to Lebanon for at least two years after completing their studies and will not be eligible for U.S. employment or residency visas during this period. They may apply for student, tourist, and business visas immediately after finishing the program.

All application materials must be submitted by Monday, May 5, 2025 (11:59 p.m. Beirut Time) to Amideast. Short-listed candidates will be invited for interviews in June 2025.

For inquiries about the program, individuals can email BeirutPD@state.gov. Questions related to applications can be directed to lebanon@amideast.org or by calling 01-989901 ext. 162.

The Fulbright scholarship was initially proposed by Senator J. William Fulbright in 1945 and is now recognized as a leading international educational exchange initiative funded by the U.S. Congress and administered by AMIDEAST.

Participation is merit-based, encouraging all eligible candidates to apply.
