The Social Security Administration (SSA) has announced its annual or biennial procedure to verify the status of beneficiaries residing outside the United States. Beneficiaries with a foreign address on record are contacted by the SSA through the Foreign Enforcement Questionnaire (SSA-7161/SSA-7162). The form must be completed and returned within 60 days to avoid suspension of benefits.
For those who have not received their January-February 2025 payments, assistance is available through Embassy Santo Domingo’s Federal Benefits Unit. Beneficiaries can contact the unit via phone at 809-368-7011 from Monday to Thursday between 9 AM and 12 PM for interview and reinstatement actions over the phone. Alternatively, an email can be sent to FBU.Santo.Domingo@ssa.gov with specific details in the subject line: FEQ-country where you live-last name of the worker’s record under which you receive benefits.
In case of non-receipt of monthly payments due to non-return of the questionnaire, beneficiaries will receive a blank form via email from the Federal Benefits Unit. The signed form should then be mailed back to:
Embajada de los EU
Dpto FBU
Ave Republica de Colombia 57
Altos de Arroyo Hondo
Santo Domingo, República Dominicana 10507
Upon receiving the completed form, benefits will be reinstated within ten business days. Beneficiaries are advised that this process applies only if they did not receive past or current month payments.
