The United States has expressed approval following the adoption of a United Nations Security Council resolution concerning Sudan. The resolution includes the renewal of the mandate for the Sudan Panel of Experts.

"The United States welcomes the adoption of the resolution and the renewal of the mandate of the Sudan Panel of Experts," stated a U.S. representative.

The U.S. government believes that the independent reporting by this panel will aid UN Member States in supporting Sudan and working towards a lasting solution to what is described as "the world’s largest humanitarian crisis."

According to the statement, "The Panel’s reporting provides unique information crucial to stemming the flow of arms and funds, stopping the fighting, and supporting a civilian-led political alternative to the Sudanese Armed Forces or the Rapid Support Forces."

The U.S. continues to support "the Sudanese people and their demands for a durable end to the conflict and a political transition to democratic governance."
